We have (finally) released FusionDox 2009, and it is even more powerful than we envisioned, and running strong and stable for many of our customers already.

FusionDox 2009 is nearing completion, and has been greatly influenced by new advances in technology and in our new product, FusionDox Access! Here are a few tidbits that have made it into the upcoming release of FusionDox 2009:

1. Dynamic PDF previews of documents

Now you can configure FusionDox so that it automatically generates PDF previews of your Microsoft Office documents (including office 2007), Open Office, Star Office, Word Perfect and more. Even Powerpoint presentations are dynamically converted so you can see and print content without checking out or downloading individual documents.

2. All new FusionDox client

Our new FusionDox client is powered by Adobe Flex and Adobe AIR. This system provides all the same ease of editing documents directly through your browser, but is now compatible with FireFox browsers, and is also compatible with Macintosh and Linux computers as well! This new system eliminates the browser security restrictions that existed with the old client making configuration a snap.

3. Per-document type retention policies

Now you can specify per document type how long it should sit in the system before archival. This allows you to have all your forms stay forever, while old PDF records get archived after a certain time of no activity.

4. All new search results interface

Search results are now displayed and ranked across folders, so the most relevant results always get displayed on top. In addition, you can now save search results and go back to them any time you want.

5. Easier multi-file uploads

Its easier than ever to keep your workspace paperless. Now you can batch upload and categorize files quickly right from any folder.

We are wrapping up primary development for FusionDox 2009 edition. This new version will be the first to be offered in both "Essentials" and "Enterprise" flavors. Upgrades will be available for all customers with an active support plan.

FusionDox Essentials is for managing a library of files and is designed to be low cost and meet the needs of small and medium sized businesses (SMB).

The Enterprise (IDM or Integrated Document Management) product will continue to meet the needs of the organizations using it while adding powerful new functionality and optimizations making it the most flexible document management platform available today.

Here is the current list of features scheduled to be included in the 2009 edition (although this is subject to change):

• Basic and Advanced User Types - Set non-technical users to have a more simplified and easier experience
• Workflow chains - link multiple workflows together
• Workflow Code Modules - create code snippets to run as part of a workflow for automating tasks
• Categorize and assign workflows to specific document types for quick workflow selection
• Enhanced search interface - search results (keyword, attribute and archive) are now all more accurately ranked and presented with a brand new look and feel, built in Adobe Flex.
• Active Directory/LDAP Integration - for authentication
• Developer friendly database views - so developers can easily integrate with your FusionForm data directly at the SQL level
• All new form controls
  • Embed forms within forms - for a dynamic parent-child data structure
  • Tab Navigator for forms - when you design your FusionForms, assign individual controls to different tabs
• New configurable retention schedules per document type
• And many more features!

FusionDox IDM Enterprise is now available as a hosted solution for SMB, who can take advantage of business forms and advanced workflow tools.
